Re: Spoke issues

A Mate spokesman (pun) has recently said "Wheels are being sent next week" to those who have had problems with spokes and have filled out a survey form with the Zen desk. There will be some process to return the wheel at no cost to the customer. We will see.

Re: Spoke issues

The spoke is moving in the hole. You can hear a telltale music box kind of sound or clicking if the spokes become loose. It eventually will break at the head. Not all mates have as much space between the hub hole and the spoke. I would compare yours with the images here. Spokes Macro (1 of 4).jpg Sp...

Re: Spoke issues

Here seems the problem. The holes in the hub are too large. Mxus specs out 12g / 13g spokes. Mate has used 13g so those are correct. But look at the size of the holes in the motor hub.

Re: Speed limit

Shheeessis! Why would you want to go even faster on this bike? Have you got a death wish? Remember, the spokes will disintegrate!

Spoke issues

Well, it looks like I have the spoke issue. I will provide some image and video soon. I contacted the Mate Help desk. Let's see where that gets me. This may be an issue of tightening the spokes that are loose to allow them to "seat" in the oversized motor hub holes. I have a spoke wrench coming so I...

Re: Replacement parts for your Mate

The blank keys work just fine! I had 3 new keys made per my two bikes.

keys

The blank is difficult to find. Keyblankdepot.com had them under DAE- 1.P in the JMI catalog. $1 a piece. I ordered 10 of them to take to my locksmith. I will report back here when I know if they will work.

Keys

I bent one of my keys while folding the bike! Others have done this also. Take the key out of the battery before folding! That said, I took the other key to the locksmith and he was unable to copy. He needs a number of the blank used. He had similar blanks and he tried to no avail. Enter @Tanel from...

New pedals

Part of the problem with the Mate supplied pedal is that it feels like it has a loose bearing. It actually is not the bearing and the the bearing actually looks fine. The folding mechanism is actually at fault. If you grab hold of the Mate pedal, it has a lot of play. I can see this having a problem...

New Skewer

The front skewer for the Mate bike is, well, suspect. Someone in our mate community had a terrible fall when her skewer failed and the front wheel came off. After looking into the issue further, she found the same skewer Mate uses on eBay for $2.50 including shipping!! I've found the same Mate skewe...
